Welcome to my career portfolio

Here you will find an overview of all the process I have made building my career.

About me

My name is Patrick de Rover, a 20 year old Dutch boy from Hardinxveld-Giessendam.  I am a second year Leisure and Events Management student, specializing in Live Music & Dance Events at Breda University of Applied Sciences. I work as a facility employee at a nursing home, where I take care of groceries, laundry, trash and cleaning, while also helping in the kitchen with serving and dishes. I spend most of my free time doing sports such as football, futsal, running and going to the gym.

I am very passionate about music; DJ'ing, producing, and playing instruments like the guitar and drums. This passion is the reason for my choice of a career in the event industry. My goal for my professional development during this year is to increase my skills musically, socially, professionally, but most importantly, my skills in organizing and creating Dance events.

Live Events

My group did not host 1, but 2 live events. The first gave participants the opportunity to have a professional photo taken for their LinkedIn page, and the second was a visit to MainStage Den Bosch. We had quite some participants for both events, sadly I could not take place in the visit to MainStage due to other obligations. These live events thought me some important insights when it comes to being professional, making appointments and using good communication with a big organization like MainStage, but also with individual creators like our camerawoman for the photoshoot.

I visited 2 other live events, the first was the producer workshop, where we were showed how FL Studio worked. After their workshop we held a quick competition between 2 groups, to see who could make the best song in 30 minutes. Our group won and we were rewarded with chocolate! This event actually motivated me to start producing my own music, which I had already been thinking about for a while, but this very simple explanation of how it actually worked really pushed me over the edge!

The second event was the celebration day in the chapel, where we enjoyed some drinks and music from DJ Damn Damian in the company of third year students that we could connect with and be inspired by. This event was helpful for my social skills, since this was the first networking event I've ever attended. We had a fun time, even though my face in the picture shows a different image... :)
